His life as a man is built around health insurance and tax services. Aristotle would certainly say no. He agrees with Socrates that to live a good life, one must be morally good. And he agrees with Epicurus that a happy life will bring many and varied pleasant experiences. We can`t really say that someone leads the good life if they are often unhappy or constantly suffering. Good life is a term that refers to a (desirable) state that is characterized primarily by a high standard of living or compliance with ethical and moral laws. In its two different expressions, the life of the good life can be expressed either by an abundant/luxurious lifestyle full of material goods, or by trying to live life in accordance with the ethical, moral, legal and religious laws of one`s own country or culture. As such, the term can be understood both as the pursuit of wealth, material goods or luxury, and as the pursuit of an enriching, honest and meaningful existence. What is the good life? Entire books have been written to answer this question. Philosophers of all ages have also reflected on this transcendent question. Nevertheless, the issue remains to this day. So it`s no surprise that people are still looking to discover what it really means to live the good life. Finding an answer to this question is not easy, even in the modern information age.
The term “living the good life” can mean a whole range of different things to different people. In the following, it is presented from different perspectives what the good life is. In its basic form, living in the good life is about exploring what gives you joy and contentment. It`s about finding meaning and purpose in your life and drawing happiness from what you do. Imagine living the good life, but no one is around you to share your joy with. The concept of living the good life also includes the relational dimension. Without them, it would not fully contribute to your happiness and fulfillment. In addition, relationships are an integral part of a livable relationship. Neither wealth nor social status can give access to true friendship. Therefore, the good life is also about spending a significant part of your time with those you love and love to be around.
The good life is about growing, developing and becoming stronger together, not alone. Not everyone who lives “the dream” or “the good life” actually lives a good life. Take, for example, the famous Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar. He certainly lived well. After all, Escobar would have been the richest criminal in history. It had private jets, racing cars and luxurious villas. And I`m pretty sure he certainly gets happiness and contentment out of his life. But was his life a good life? Certainly not. Many people who “had it all” actually gave up wealth, comfort, and lifestyle to make sense.
Think of Walt Disney`s descendant, Abigail Disney, who donates millions to charities every year and founded a film company dedicated to documentaries aimed at bringing about social change. Only through self-control can we replace our unlimited appetite for pleasure with a more noble and rational way of thinking. Instead of being instinctive, it allows us to reflect and reflect on what we are doing. To live the good life is to discover your true passions and have the courage to pursue these activities. By doing what you are passionate about, a sense of fulfillment, accomplishment, and true satisfaction can be added to your life. What is your idea of the “good life”? Leave a comment below and share your thoughts. Social comparison also plays an important role: we evaluate what we have in relation to what others have. Choice means giving up alternatives, and happiness means being grateful to be able to choose. Thus, the “good life” can have to do with the appreciation of what we have. However, the main key to resisting life`s difficulties lies in how we allow these events to affect us. Although we are unable to control a variety of events in life, we still have the ability to control our reactions to those events. So we have the choice to let these events break us and arouse fear in us, or to get back from the ground and recover.
A person`s “bad” day is just as subjective as that person. A person might think that on a bad day is when they push their toe. Another doesn`t think his day is bad until he`s buried under 10 feet of mud in a sudden mudslide westward. “Bad” for one is not “bad” for the other. Our perspectives determine what we consider “good” or “bad.” To live the good life is to control oneself. But it`s worth noting that most people don`t think about self-control when it comes to striving for a good life. Instead of seeking discipline and self-control, they prefer to hunt wealth, material goods, status, or the fulfillment of desires. Without self-discipline, however, the action revolves mainly around the desire to fulfill wishes. As a result, we waste a lot of time and energy nurturing desires that can never be fully satisfied. Therefore, our actions are selfish, self-centered, and thoughtless. Instead of living the good life, we succumb to the instinctive and unreasonable qualities we share with animals. Living the good life means striving to master yourself, explore and improve the world around you.
It is a life worth living and liberating you. A life that is in balance and that satisfies and fulfills you fully. But the good life is not only a life that adds happiness, joy and pleasure, but it also desires to achieve self-control. Thus, the good life is not a life passed by the endless pursuit of personal desires. Instead, he tries to reign in your passions by gaining self-control. The one who lives the good life also contributes to the improvement of this world and adds added value to it. For many people, the well-being of their families, especially their children and grandchildren, is the most important source of meaning in life. This view goes back a long way. In ancient times, the definition of happiness was to have a lot of children who do well. Aristotle concludes that the supreme good cannot consist mainly of these three aspects.
Instead, the highest good should be something aimed at maximizing man`s inherent abilities…
